"Do yourself a favor and pick up Local H's previous album, Pack Up the Cats -- even if you already own it. One of the most overlooked albums of 1998, Cats was the perfect balance between finely tuned turbulence and sardonic self-deprecation. It's simply a shame Here Comes the Zoo comes off as nothing more than a poor man's Cats. Would that make it a ferret? The aberrant, artistically challenging two-man lineup may finally be catching up with Local H, with the duo looking to fill the void left from lack of imagination with a newfound sense of austerity. Had Cats never existed, Zoo would actually work, but with the archetype still available, why settle for second best?
